Good news for Dutch football fans: the Uefa Europa League will be broadcast on RTL 7 and its online platforms until 2021. The channel secured the broadcasting rights to 25 live matches and highlights of all other Uefa Europa League matches.
In the first ten rounds of the competition, the two most attractive matches per evening will be broadcast live. After that there will be one live game per evening. The extensive highlights will feature analysis of other matches.
RTL Nederland CEO Sven Sauvé says: “RTL 7 has broadcast the Europa League in the Netherlands for the past nine years. Because many Dutch clubs play in this competition, I think it’s very important to retain these rights for free-to-air TV, so I’m glad we can keep regular football on Thursday evenings on RTL 7.”
The Uefa Europa League’s 15-round structure will remain unchanged over the next few seasons. The 2018-2019 season starts with the group phase on Thursday 20 September. The final will be played on 29 May 2019 at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. The live match broadcasts will start with a preview and be analysed extensively afterwards. The team of presenters and pundits will be announced at a later date.
RTL 7 will broadcast the first match on 20 September 2018 from 18:00.
