Germany, TV Now
Drama series The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, starring Patrick Dempsey, to premiere in Germany in April on TV Now.
Die Wahrheit über den Fall Harry Quebert (The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair) is based on the eponymous bestselling novel by Swiss author Joël Dicker, originally published in French as La Vérité sur l’affaire Harry Quebert. In his first ever TV series, over 10 episodes each lasting 50 minutes, Oscar-winning French director Jean-Jacques Annaud, maker of Black and White in Colour, The Name of the Rose and Seven Years in Tibet, tells a captivating crime story full of subtle twists and exciting flashbacks. In November 2018, the series successfully premiered on the French TV channel TF1, where the first episode drew an audience of 5.6 million viewers, achieving a strong overall market share of 22.7 per cent.
The drama series stars a glittering cast, too, featuring two-time Golden Globe nominee Patrick Dempsey in the title role as writer Harry Quebert. The role marks Dempsey’s first appearance in a TV series since starring in the award-winning US series Grey’s Anatomy. The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair also stars Ben Schnetzer (from Snowden and Pride) as the successful young author Marcus Goldman, Kristine Froseth (Apostle) as Nola Kellergan, and Damon Wayans Jr., (New Girl) as Sergeant Perry Gahalowood. Other roles are played by Colm Feore (House of Cards) as the wealthy Elijah Stern, Matt Frewer (Timeless) as Nola Kellergan’s father, Victoria Clark (Homeland) as the grown-up Jenny Quinn and Wayne Knight (Narcos) as the lawyer Benjamin Roth.
The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair was co-produced by two US-based production companies, MGM Television and Eagle Pictures. On 1 April 2019, it will premiere in Germany on TV Now, the streaming service run by Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland. From that date, all 10 episodes will be available to download from TV Now.
