Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, secured a Group wide deal acquiring the rights to series adaptation of Four Weddings and a Funeral in five countries, namely Germany, The Netherlands, France, Spain and Hungary.

The bundling of our strong positions in the respective markets gives us access to attractive formats in an increasingly competitive international landscape.”

In Germany, Four Weddings and a Funeral will air on Vox and TV Now.
Inspired by the hit film of the same name, the series revolves around the themes of love and friendship. When four friends – Maya (Nathalie Emmanuel), Craig (Brandon Mychal Smith), Ainsley (Rebecca Rittenhouse) and Duffy (John Reynolds) – reunite at the wedding of a mutual friend in London, the ceremony doesn’t quite go as planned. A bombshell at the altar throws their lives into turmoil, kicking off a tumultuous year of romance and heartbreak. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course, there are four weddings…and a funeral.
The adaptation was written by multiple Emmy-nominated Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project), and Emmy winner Matt Warburton (The Simpsons, The Mindy Project). The series is executive produced by Kaling, Tracey Wigfield, Jonathan Prince, Matt Warburton, Howard Klein of 3Arts Entertainment, Charlie Grandy, Tristram Shapeero, Charles McDougall (only Ep. 1 & 2) and Richard Curtis, the Oscar-nominated author of the original film, whose other credits include Bridget Jones’s Diary, Love Actually and Notting Hill.
The series stars Emmanuel (Game of Thrones), Nikesh Patel (Indian Summers), Rittenhouse (Into the Dark: The Body), Reynolds (Search Party), Smith (You’re the Worst), Zoe Boyle (Frontier), Sophia La Porta (Zara), Harish Patel (Run Fatboy Run) and Guz Khan (Finding Fatima). Andie MacDowell, who played the female lead in the original movie released in 1994, makes a guest appearance in the series.
The series is produced by MGM Television and Universal Television; and internationally distributed by MGM.The series premiered in the US on Hulu 31 July 2019.
