TBS Television, the flagship station of the Japanese commercial TV network,TBS Holdings, Inc. has cooperated with RTL AdConnect, the international advertising sales house of RTL Group, to sell TBS’ catch-up inventory programmatically with immediate effect. This is the first time a Japanese broadcaster’s VOD inventory has been made available to a European media sales house.
The bilateral, international partnership develops business and advertising opportunities between Asia and Europe. TBS is one of Japan’s biggest commercial networks. TBS produces and owns IP for the globally famous titles such as Funniest Home Videos, Ninja Warrior and Takeshi’s Castle.
RTL AdConnect is the international Total Video sales house of RTL Group and represents the ad inventory of an extensive portfolio of media partners consisting of more than 150 TV channels and 500 online platforms globally.
The partnership connects TBS’ on-demand portfolio to RTL AdConnect’s online advertising marketplace VMP Connect, which represents its premium BVOD advertising inventory. As such the Japanese broadcaster’s catch-up offers will be sold programmatically to European and US advertisers and give them access to the Japanese advertising market.
Additionally, TBS and RTL AdConnect will mutually promote linear TV and digital sales in both markets, Japan and Europe.
