RTL Nederland FestiFall 2019

RTL Nederland ready to rumble: impressions from RTL FestiFall 2019.

RTL Nederland presented a new season full of great local content at RTL FestiFall 2019 in a crowded SugarCity, just a stone’s throw away from Amsterdam. Where one of RTL Nederland’s earliest drama series, De Fabriek, was once recorded, now brand new Content Director Peter van der Vorst presented his content vision in front of the Dutch press, advertisers, agencies and more than 60 presenters and actors. In a media industry full of strong competitors, RTL Nederland decided to present its content in a new and fresh way: an entertaining and engaging Mainstage event followed by a festifall area with strong brand activations where everybody could participate.

After the group photo shoot of #teamRTL and the red carpet photography of all the various stars, the official presentation from Peter van der Vorst kicked off after a hilarious introduction from tv maker and presenter Paul de Leeuw. Van der Vorst explained that RTL Nederland will be investing tens of millions of euros in distinctive Dutch content on the three major platforms: RTL 4, RTL 5 and Videoland.

Van der Vorst says, “We have been connected with Dutch society for 30 years and know Holland well. We distinguish ourselves with local stories. Not only on TV, but certainly also on demand with Videoland. We use our expertise and that of our stars to connect with the Dutch viewer. I want us to be personal, recognisable and close to the audience.

During the presentation that followed several RTL Nederland hosts presented their new shows, announced by their very own on screen colleagues. The first was tv-host Beau van Erven Dorens, He gave the audience a first personal insight into his new late night talkshow BEAU. TV-Host Ruben Nicolai presented his new internationally accaimed show The Masked Singer (which will premiere on Sunday 27 September on RTL 4) by introducing a ‘Proud Mary’ singing guest-star: The Bunny! The audience had to guess which Dutch celebrity was in the suit and behind the mask. Ssshhhh….

After several trailers of exciting new content, that both evoked tears and laughter, on screen queen Chantal Janzen introduced her new show Chantal’s Pyjama Party with a real live drum band. The same drum band led the audience into the festival area where the fun continued!

The festival-area had it all: one of the spinning chairs from The Voice of Holland, an exciting challenge from Expeditie Robinson, a karaoke van with host Paul de Leeuw (promotion for his new show Paul’s Nummer 1 show, this Autumn on RTL 4), a cocktailbar with guest ‘tempters’ from Temptation Island, several funfair games with great prizes, a fortune teller, a chance to present the weather with help from one of our very own weather men, food stands and a ‘Videoland box’ full of special effects, which gave all our VIPS an impressive sneak peek of Videoland content.
