The German channel RTL is all set to air the 15th season of ‘Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!’ (I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here) in January 2021 with only one difference; the jungle camp has moved from its usual setting in Australia to Wales. Due to coronavirus restrictions worldwide, production in Australia has become impossible. Therefore, producers followed in the footsteps of their British counterparts by relocating the smash hit live show to the Welsh countryside.

The concept of the show will remain the same, however individual elements will have to be adapted to the UK landscape. Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich will continue to present the show daily, live from the camp where contestants will still need to pass challenges in a bid to receive rewards. Despite the lack of Australia’s diverse wildlife, culinary surprises will also continue to be commonplace in whatever form they may be. The only difference seems to be that participants may need to swap their cargo shorts for thermal trousers.

“At a time when so many things are different from what we are all used to, we’ll just have to select the king of the jungle in a different way. “

It was imperative for the RTL production team to find a way to air the format that has been a viewer favourite for many years. Now that it is confirmed, consumers await the announcement of this year’s contestants with bated breath. Rumours are already circling about who is most likely to enter the camp with Werner Hansch, fresh off his coronation from Celebrity Big Brother, and Laura Müller the current favourites.
