The “Elle est Bo” report produced by the Belgian broadcaster RTL-TVI received the Best Documentary Award at the International Women’s Film Festival. “Elle est Bo” is a documentary about the fate of Bo Van Spilbeeck, a Dutch-speaking transgender journalist from Belgium. Since she was a child, Bo, born Baudouin, was not happy as a boy and took every opportunity, in the theater or even at school, to change her appearance. But it was only at the age of 58, at the height of a career as an international reporter, that Baudouin finally came out as transgender and announced that she would henceforth be called “Bo”.

In this exceptional, award-winning documentary, Bo Van Spilbeeck talks of her many years as a woman in a man’s body, and of her internal struggle. She recalls her final decision to change and to reveal that decision at work and to the public. “Elle est Bo” is part of a TVI series with testimonials, which also includes “Moi, Alain, embaumer” (Me, Alain, embalmer), and “Wonder, ma différence, ma force” (Wonder, my difference, my strength).
