Spanish TV Ratings 2019

The Atresmedia Televisión group looks back at the viewer ratings of the year 2019. Summed up, the channels achieved an audience share of 26.2 percent. With 11.7 percent, the main channel Antena 3 contributed the most to this result, followed by La Sexta with 7 percent. Both channels were especially strong with their news shows during the 2019 election year in Spain.

The TV channels of the Spanish Atresmedia Televisión group, in which RTL Group holds a stake, concluded 2019 with an audience share of 26.2 percent. During primetime, the share amounted to 26.3 percent, and 27.8 percent in the advertising relevant target group. Although it has one channel less than its main competitor, the broadcaster reached around 21.5 million viewers per day – a larger audience than its competitor.

The main channel Antena 3 concluded the year with an audience share of 11.7 percent. With 11.9 percent during primetime, it also reached a larger number of viewers and even achieved an audience share of 12.9 percent during primetime in the advertising relevant target group. In addition, Antena 3 was the channel that attracted most viewers to Spanish television last year: more than 14 million per day on average. The audience share of the channel La Sexta grew for the second consecutive year to 7 percent, outperforming its main competitor for the seventh year in a row and increasing its lead by 1.7 percentage points. In the 2019 election year in Spain, both channels were especially strong with their news and information shows. For example, “Antena 3 Noticias” landed its best result in ten years with an audience share of 15.1 percent. “La Sexta Noticias” and “Al rojo vivo” captured their best ratings ever with an audience share of 10.6 percent and 15.2 percent respectively.

Neox, the children’s channel of Atresmedia Televisión, was the market leader in its segment and achieved an audience share of 2.4 percent. Nova, the channel mainly targeting the female audience, scored 2.2 percent, and the channel Mega, focused on the male audience, attracted an audience share of 1.5 percent. Atreseries, the series channel, achieved 1.4 percent, the best result in its history. In the digital segment, the Spanish broadcaster can also look back on a successful year. With more than 24.2 million unique visitors, Atresmedia is the country’s leading media group. Compared with the previous year, this equals an increase of more than five million users. With an average of more than 10.5 million unique visitors, antena3.com landed its best result ever. The website lasexta.com reports an average of 8.4 million users.
