The Cologne based children’s channel Super RTL defended its position as market leader in German children’s TV in 2019 with an average audience share of 21.6 percent in the target group of 3 to 13-year-old children. The public channel Kinderkanal achieved 17.7 percent, Nickelodeon 6.4 percent, and Disney Channel 13.1 percent.

During daytime, the preschool series “Paw Patrol” was especially successful and attracted an average of 54.4 percent of 3 to 5-year-old children. In the older children’s target group, the proprietary production “Super Toy Club” was high in demand with up to 24.6 percent, as well as “Woozle Goozle” with up to 20.3 percent audience share. During primetime, Super RTL scored with a mix of true crime, crime series, and movies: with 2.1 percent in the 14 to 59-year-old target group, the Cologne based channel achieved its best result in nine years.

“2019 was once again an excellent year for our linear TV offers,” says Claude Schmit, Managing Director of Super RTL. “With new proprietary productions, such as a news journal for children, we will continue to offer high-quality content in the future and play it out through the platforms of our Content Hub – linear, online or via app – in a custom-tailored way. I am certain that we will remain on our successful track with this offer.”
