Taking up the challenges

New formats and new seasons on channels RTL 4 and RTL 5.


In the new RTL 4 programme Superstar Chef, eight Dutch celebrities are paired with eight of the Netherlands’ best chefs in a serious cook-off. Never before have so many top Dutch chefs, including several with Michelin stars, participated in a cooking competition. Among others, Lucas Rive, Joris Bijdendijk and André Gerrits each take care of a celebrity under the guidance of presenter Tijl Beckand.

The teams cook weekly on RTL 4 from Tuesday 24 April 2018 at 20:30.

Celeb battle of the sexes

Yolanthe Sneijder Cabau once again challenges Tijl Beckand to a battle of the sexes in a new season De Jongens tegen de Meisjes (Boys Against Girls) from Sunday 22 April 2018. In the seventh series of the game show, their celebrity teams compete each week to show who has the best skills and knowledge about the opposite sex.

This fun and humorous contest revolves around the many differences between men and women. Who works best together and who can best assess the other sex – the competitive men or multitasking women? Every week the winning team earns vouchers for their audience.

De Jongens tegen de Meisjes is produced by Talpa and is broadcast on RTL 4 every Sunday at 20:00.

Facing the judge

Several courts in the Netherlands open their doors to the cameras to record confrontations between judges and members of the public in Voor De Rechter (In Front of the Judge), broadcast on RTL 5 at 21:30 from 17 April.

Pay up or get out

In a new season of De Deurwaarders: Betalen Or Leeghalen (The Debt Collectors: Pay Up or Get Out), RTL 5 follows bailiffs Alex, Monique, Bram, Matthijs and Hans who end up in very different situations every day when they call on debtors. From emotional, poignant stories to aggressive confrontations, no day is the same for them. In the RTL Producties programme De Deurwaarders: Betalen Or Leeghalen broadcast since Tuesday 17 April 2018, the viewers follow the five in their work with people with money troubles.

In the previous series, a number of defaulters also received help from viewers after the broadcast. For example, a single father was offered season tickets from his favourite football club and another viewer paid for medication for a sick woman.

Tackling online abusers

In a new programme Online Misbruik Aangepakt (Tackling Online Abuse), John van den Heuvel and Nicolette Kluijver confront perpetrators of online abuse with the consequences of their actions and offer victims a helping hand. Episode one of the four-part RTL 5 series, broadcast on Monday 23 April 2018 at 21:30, discussed the case of Laura Ponticorvo as John, Nicolette and Laura confront the man who made her life a hell.

Facing compulsive disorders

In a new season of Levenslang Met Dwang (Living with Compulsion) Dennis Weening travels to Thailand with eight people who have serious compulsive disorders. On a confrontational road trip they begin their battle for a normal life by courageously tackling their obsessive compulsions supported by the best experts in this field. Levenslang Met Dwang is produced by Blue Circle and is broadcast on RTL 5 from 23 April 2018 at 21:30.
